Ecclesiastes 4:1 “So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.”
Those without Christ can expect all the heartache and pain this world, by nature, brings. The believer in Christ faces the same difficulties, yet we, indwelled by the Comforter, have resources to face them. This world is void of hope and comfort without the presence of the Spirit.
Evil men, and the evil god of this world, have power over all within their system and provide no mechanism for encouragement in time of trouble. They only burden, oppress, and ultimately destroy those under their influence. Apart from the new life Christ provides, eternal torment is our only future.
We must act based upon this understanding. That means bringing a message of hope, by presenting the offer God provides of a relationship with His son and the constant indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit – the Comforter.
