Psalm 22:18 “They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.”
Can anyone deny that this passage of scripture refers to Jesus?
Is there a man, woman, or child that can read this and its New Testament counterpart and not see the evidence of Christ’s fulfillment of prophecy?
Sadly, there are many that deny and even scoff at the Bible’s authenticity or cast doubt on its truthfulness.
Our joy and duty is to point those that doubt to passages like this and others that confirm Jesus’ identity as God’s son, the Messiah.
The Holy Spirit uses the tool of scripture to point people to the Savior and prophecy is an often overlooked tool, particularly for those who are knowledgeable, but still reject Christ.
You can find the New Testament fulfillment recorded in Matthew 27, Mark 15, or Luke 23. “And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.”
There is indeed overwhelming evidence as to the identity of Jesus Christ, yet there are still so many that refuse to believe.
Let us pray diligently for the Holy Spirit to go before us, then point to this wonderful chapter (and many others) that show in living color our Messiah.
