As the Lord hath spoken

Genesis 24:51-52 “Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master’s son’s wife, as the LORD hath spoken. And it came to pass, that, when Abraham’s servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.”

Sometimes we are just absolutely positive that the Lord has done something. It is difficult to give up a daughter, but these parents were able to do it, because it was the will of God.

Parents are not always willing to give up a child for the Lord.

They may even be the most vocal critics of a promising young person’s call to the ministry, for example.

It may be that they hope for a more “secure” vocation for their sons or daughters; something that will give them status and stability.

Everyone thinking in this manner should be assured that there is no place safer than in the center of God’s will.

This is not a phrase that suggests an absence of physical pain or hardship, but rather the safety of eternal peace and a clear conscience through them.
