Sons and daughters, fathers, mothers, and indeed all of us need reminders.
God often makes it clear that His word must be kept close. Near enough for us to be reminded daily.
The commandments of parents are to be kept close as well – committed to heart and even worn about the neck.
It is the wisdom of God, passed down by parents that must be cherished enough, deemed important enough, to keep close at hand.
The act of memorization is not worthwhile as merely a religious exercise.
The quick recall of God’s word is a utility to be employed in times of trouble, or a guide when decisions must be made.
Wise words from parents written in a bedside journal, or better still in the memory, are tools for a life that is moving too fast.
These words have need to be bound and tied, for we too often forget.
Some work must be done to prepare these reminders, but the effort is worth it.
