Psalm 71:9 “Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.”
Do we shape our view of God’s approval of us by what we do for Him? Is it the great acts we perform for the Lord that make Him pleased or displeased with us?
If it is indeed what we do for Christ that determines His view of us, then the old must be held in less regard by Him.
They, after all, cannot put in the time and effort a young person can and therefore must look forward to less reward.
It seems there is no doubt God sees us in a different way.
He sees the reality of our heart’s commitment to Him and clearly discerns our intentions, rather than simply our actions.
This means that the aged among us are on equal footing with the young, even if their productivity in God’s work is reduced.
Those faithfully walking with God for many years reflect a maturity and depth of relationship that will be highly valued by the body of Christ.
He will not cast us off, young or old. In our weakness, we find His strength.
