When Naomi returns to Bethlehem from Moab, she requests that people call her Mara, which means bitterness.

In Moab, she lost her husband and two sons, returning to Judah with only her daughter in law Ruth.

Naomi says several things about God that lead us to believe she is not fully trusting Him.

She says God has made her life very bitter. And that He has testified against her and afflicted her.

The meaning of Naomi is “my delight.” But instead of delighting in her, God has chosen to injure her.

We are not unlike Naomi. In times like these, we can do one of two things: forget God loves us and has a plan, or run to His love and embrace His plan.

Naomi chooses bitterness. This is the wrong choice.

God knows what is best. He sees the full picture with no hindrance. Our challenge is to trust Him in all things.
