Genesis 7:1 “And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.”
Noah pleased God in a wicked generation – and it stood out.
The word for righteous used here means: in conduct and character, doing right.
In the previous chapter, the Bible says Noah walked with God. They had a relationship and Noah was doing what God asked Him to do.
This is a portion of the flood story that can be easily overlooked.
In the wicked and violent society in which Noah lived, He had a successful walk with God.
No doubt, Noah stood alone often. It must have been a battle to “do right” every day.
In the midst of this battle came judgement, but also the safety and rescue of the ark for Noah and his family.
God saves and protects His own. This is a pattern that we see here and throughout the New Testament.
Let us remember this as a story of both judgement and salvation. Be encouraged, those who know and walk with God are greatly blessed.
