Jonah 3:4-5 “And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.”
Jonah finally arrives at the destination God intended.
Nineveh sinned against God, but when Jonah arrives and informs them of their soon overthrow, the people repent.
From the greatest to the least, they turn to God.
When He sees their works and their departure from evil, God chooses not to destroy them.
Accounts of entire cities turning from sin are rare. Jonah was there to see it.
After a significant detour, he is now actively participating in God’s will for his life.
Will he share in the joy of their repentance or go back to thinking only of himself?
The next chapter brings answers and rebuke for those of us who fail to learn, even after a second chance.
