Psalm 69:5 “O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.”
It is often just a word that stands out in a passage of scripture, prompting us to consider what God is saying.
The word that may jump out at us in this passage is “foolishness.”
It is often our foolishness that we want to hide most from the world around us.
We can find comfort in knowing that God sees the flaws in our character (including foolishness), yet loves us anyway.
It is not just the accountability factor in this understanding that affects us.
While God sees our sin, holding us responsible for it, He also understands our lack of human ability to change and works in our lives to conform us to His image.
Yes, He knows and sees our foolishness, but He also knows and sees the right we do, as we always do it in His strength and as He enables us. He sees the right and wrong of our character.
It is with this knowledge that we should then live our lives with minimal foolishness, as we seek to honor Him.
