Proverbs 5:3-4 “For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.”
The most successful temptation is the one that looks and sounds good.
Satan is a deceiver and those who do his work are people of ugly inner-character, with an attactive outer-shell.
Their promises draw us in, but they are lies.
We expect to be better off, but are always worse.
The path appears to lead us higher, but can only bring us low.
This “strange woman” appeals to that which is already built-in: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
She will flatter with her lips and charm with her appearance, but her bite will be quick and deadly.
Our best defense is distance – lots of it.
We separate ourselves from the sweet and smooth, understanding the bitterness and pain that they hide.
Truth, not sight or feeling, must guide our every thought and action.
