The courage described in this passage does not come from inside ourselves; it is rather from (as the close of the verse indicates) the Lord of courage.
When we enter into difficult situations in life, we must not fear, precisely because we hope in the Lord.
The very act of putting our lives in the hands of God creates a sense of courage within us.
The times in our lives that we may be most immobilized by our circumstances are the times that we are clearly relying on ourselves.
We lack strength of heart, because we have an internal sense that we are not sufficient to compete with the difficulties of the circumstances we are facing.
On the other hand, we can jump into the impossible with little thought for ourselves when God holds the reins.
Standing up to the troubles of life can be easy when we have trust in the Lord of life.
Let us endeavor again to turn ourselves completely over to the One that never fails. Trusting in ourselves is a failure from the beginning, for we are human, therefore dependent on Him.
