Joshua 1:7 “Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.”
Download Strong and very courageous
Strength and courage were necessary attributes for a leader on the verge of entering and taking a new land. But that’s not why God said Joshua needed them.
He said this leader needed strength and courage to obey the law of Moses. These character traits would keep him from turning away from the law and going his own way.
The result of Joshua’s efforts were never in doubt. God promised their mission would be a success.
The concern was for the spiritual well-being of Joshua and his people.
God would be faithful to them. It was a question of whether or not they would be faithful to Him.
Did they (do we) have the strength and courage to walk daily, hourly, in fellowship with, and service to, God?
Remember, we cannot hope to perform great acts for God if we are not walking daily in faithfulness to God.
