Psalm 111:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”
Download The beginning of wisdom
When we think of wisdom, even though we may have read this verse, we don’t often think of the fear of God.
Can a man walk through life with righteous intelligence without giving proper honor to the author of life?
The argument could be made that all unwise decisions are the result of lacking fear of the Lord.
Since the fear of God is a proper, Biblical recognition of who He is, the absence of fear is a rejection of Him or a twisted view of His character.
When we wonder why our lives are so confused, we can often find our answer in a flawed view of our Lord.
We unfortunately have the tendency to make a caricature of the real God in our minds. It is formed based on our own thoughts or fleshly desires.
If we are seeking understanding in the practical matters of life, we must get to know God. A Biblical study of Him will bring about a profound reverence and therefore a wisdom for living rightly.
