Genesis 8:5 “And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.”
The opening of the ark isn’t recorded until a few verses later, but we assume based on what is written here that Noah saw these mountains.
This must have been a wonderful day.
His family was enjoying the blessing of salvation, but they also must have been weary of flood.
Leaving the ark was no doubt a desire of their hearts by this time and the sight of these mountains must have thrilled their souls.
Sometimes even in the midst of great blessing there is relief at the sight of a new day.
Even times of great joy and prosperity can grow tiresome because of the hard work contained therein.
Noah’s family would thank God all of their lives for the salvation of the ark, but something tells me they also remembered with fond gratitude the sight of those mountains.
Let us stay the course for God through high waters. The tops of the mountains will come into view soon enough.
When they do, we will praise God again for His multiplied blessings.
