Genesis 12:12 “Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.”
It appears Abraham was prone to worry.
His murder in Egypt because of his wife was all in his mind and this presumption caused him great harm.
It is an idea that totally leaves God out of the picture and causes Abraham to forget the Lord’s promises to him.
False thoughts can lead us to take actions that can set a series of damaging events in motion.
We sometimes work up a scenario in our minds, without having any evidence that it is even possible.
God promised to bless Abraham greatly, yet soon after he is worrying about being killed by Egyptians.
God also promises us His provision and we can lay awake nights wringing our hands about finances, or our families, or our health.
Let us not make presumptions about what may happen in the future. Instead, we must trust God with every day – today and tomorrow.
