Psalm 44:6-7 “For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.”
This verse may cause us think about the times we have given credit to something or someone other than God for victories in our lives.
Our own intellect, strength, experience, or creativity are prospects for stealing credit. Maybe the tools that we used to gain the victory, like the bow and the sword here, are also credit-thieves.
The Bible says that God is the provider of every good and perfect gift.
As the battle begins, let us both trust in Him first, and determine to grant Him the due credit for every victory.
Our minds were created by God, along with our hands, and feet, and voices.
Nothing good is ours because we earned it; it is rather ours because God, in His goodness, allowed us to earn it.
We may not hold a bow or sword in our hands today, but if we hold something that draws our attention from the provision of the Lord, we would be wise to consider where it came from and Who gave us the strength to use it.
