Titus 2:14 “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”
Those of us who know and follow Christ are a peculiar people indeed.
If, for nothing else, for all the reasons listed in this verse.
We are redeemed from our iniquity, purified, and have a burning zeal for good works.
Jesus gave himself for us, that we might be this way.
Before coming to know Him, we were decidedly the opposite; lost, slaves to sin, and unable to do right.
One of the traits which must exceed our peculiarity has to be thankfulness.
If we think carefully about what Jesus has done, even limiting ourselves to the miracles in this passage, we are overwhelmed.
How is it that He can offer Himself a spotless lamb, dying in our place and for our sins, providing salvation as a free gift? Then also provide power, by His Spirit, to do right? And direction, by His word, to live as He chooses?
Praise God for what word peculiar means: “a people for God’s own possession.”
