Luke 2:46-47 “And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.”
By this time, Jesus was increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
And in this episode, we find Him in the midst of many learned and experienced teachers. He is hearing them and asking them questions.
This is God made flesh, in humility, listening. But He was also answering. And His answers astonished them.
From these earliest glimpses of Jesus’ life, we see Him going about His father’s business in humility, but also in power.
This is the way the scripture describes Him, in constant submission to the Father’s will.
He is our example, taking on the form of a servant, in doing so glorifying God!
Are we humble – servants – ever-in-submission – if not, can we say that we are indeed following His example?
