Luke 24:46-47 “And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”
Jesus, appearing before His disciples, after His resurrection, explains their future ministry on His behalf.
As eye-witnesses of His resurrection, they would begin at Jerusalem and preach repentance and remission of sins through Him.
Their ministry would extend around the world – unto all nations.
He reminded them of the scripture’s testimony of Him in the law and the prophets and the psalms – and of His own words to them also.
It was the Bible and their personal account of meeting Him – seeing His scars, touching Him, and watching Him eat here – that would form the foundation for their outreach.
We have those same scriptures and more. And if we know Him and have been transformed through salvation, we are also witnesses, and must carry the truth of His gospel into all the world.
