Luke 1:68-69 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;”
At the birth of John the Baptist, his father Zacharias is filled with the Holy Ghost. After not being able to speak for a while, he begins to both speak and to proclaim the truth.
There is much excitement at this birth, primarily for what it represents. His son, John, would be the one to prepare the way for the Messiah.
This was the beginning of the era in which God would walk the earth in human flesh.
This should be a moment of excitement for us as well, as we see God’s plan unfold just as He said it would!
Another birth announcement is coming in this book. The One that John is set aside to testify of – his entire life – will be born to Mary. And the rejoicing will continue.
Jesus is the One who will redeem His people and provide the way of salvation! And we, like John, are to boldly testify of Him.
