John 1:45-46 “Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.”
We know that many in Israel rejected Jesus, but in this chapter, we observe those who committed to following Him.
They are convinced that He is the One spoken about in the Old Testament. The One who would bring light and salvation to the ends of the earth.
But there was much, from a human perspective, that was confusing about His coming.
“Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?”
This part of Galilee was looked upon rather negatively by its neighbors in Israel. Kings did not arise from this place, why then would the King of kings?
His growing up there was, to the casual observer, a mark against Him. But He deserved more than a casual look.
So Philip said, “come and see.” And those who looked deeper would find Him Lord.
