Galatians 1:8-9 “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
The key point of this verse is repeated, so as not to be misunderstood. Salvation, by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (as revealed in scripture), is not to be altered by anyone. This means neither addition or subtraction.
In this context, many were adding works to the gospel message. This is a common perversion of the gospel in our day as well. Some would also fail to recognize Christ for who He is: the sinless Savior, who died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
Find the gospel in God’s word – the Bible – and reject those that would preach “any other.”
