John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
As this chapter goes on, Jesus describes (in some detail) what it means to be born again.
It is a phrase, and a concept, that some find confusing. Even the man Jesus is speaking with here, Nicodemus, asks multiple follow-up questions.
For the believer in Christ, one who has experienced His grace, the term is more likely to make sense.
There was life before Christ and now life after Christ. And life after Christ is totally new. We are new creatures in Him.
The transformation is easily identified as a new birth.
But for the man who has yet to discover his need for grace, his need for forgiveness, and ultimately his need for Jesus, this may seem unnecessary.
A man like that may say “there is no need for second birth.” But what Jesus says is true. Eternal life in heaven with Him is only for the “born again.”
Turn from sin and fully embrace Him. “You must be born again.”
