Many of the sins we commit on a daily basis are with our mouths.

We find ourselves saying too much or too little at the wrong time or in the wrong place. Despite our justifications, these actions are sinful.

We choose words quickly, without sufficient thought. We share a second and third sentence, when one was enough. We tear down, when we should have been building up. Or we give an opinion, when we should have been listening.

Many of our words and ideas displease God and offend people.

Who knows how many problems in the Christian world could have been solved if we would have considered our words more carefully.

Two things are for sure based on this passage – those words come from our hearts and God knows our hearts and hears our words.

So, if we don’t have anything Godly to say, perhaps it’s best not to say anything at all.
