I Peter 1:15-16 “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
Those of us who have been saved for a number of years know this verse. I wonder how many of us really make holiness a goal?
It might be awkward for us to express a desire for holiness to others or make us uncomfortable to pray for holiness. Because it seems like the unattainable goal, always just out of our reach.
We could even feel a desire for holiness is self-focused. This is not the case.
God is holy and it is His holiness that we draw upon as we are consecrated more and more for His use.
That’s what holiness means. It is a consecration for His work. And it comes about when we are conformed in all things to His will.
When we live this way, we are not considering ourselves – only God’s will.
We are setting aside our own desires and thoughts and being set aside for Him. This is not building a reputation, but being a reflection of the One who is holy, holy, holy – the Lord God almighty.
