Luke 8:49-50 “While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.”
This event, at first, may have seemed hopeless. But when Jesus is involved, there is always hope.
His ministry is about bringing the dead to life. Today, those without hope, spiritually dead, come to Him seeking life everlasting – and by faith find it.
Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue in this story, was also asked to believe.
All he had was a promise from Jesus that his daughter would be made whole.
This is not unlike our promise that all who believe will have eternal life.
A few verses later this promise was fulfilled. Our promise of salvation is also fulfilled.
We have a Savior that is faithful and true. He has the power to deliver both the physically and spiritually dead. And He always keeps His promises.
