Psalm 88:1-3 “O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee: Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry; For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.”
It’s hard not to be struck by the honesty of this prayer. I wonder if we have we been this clear in our confessions to the Lord?
There are many facets of prayer, and certainly honest confession must be one of them.
While we may be prepared to offer a request, we may not readily reveal our feelings about that request, mentioning our anger, sadness or even despair. This is despite our knowledge that God is able to remedy all.
Let us practice being honest with God in prayer. Instead of simply declaring we need help with a particular item, let us make clear our struggles with it.
If the goal is communication with the Lord, this may be a good place to start.
