Job 36:5 “Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.”
Elihu takes a break from his rebuke of Job to extol God’s greatness.
This is the first lengthy section in many chapters that is not focused on Job’s suffering, the accusations of his friends, his defense, or Elihu’s rebuke.
After all this discussion about men, it is refreshing to be reminded about God.
He is mighty. And He doesn’t abhor anyone. There is no end to His strength and wisdom.
Job’s friends spoke about what he had done wrong. He spoke about what he had done right.
Elihu speaks about God’s character.
Men should do right and avoid wrong because of Him. He is our Creator, the provider of all good, and our only hope for eternal life.
Turning our eyes to Him means taking our eyes off self.
When we have lost perspective, looking to Him brings it back.
No matter the difficulties facing us, He is mighty enough to to overcome them. We have to rely upon His strength.
If we have any hope of obtaining wisdom, we must go to Him. There is no wisdom without God.
