Luke 2:11-12 “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
This is one of the most important and well-known announcements in the history of the world.
It seems unlikely. A young Hebrew girl, delivering a baby in a stable, in a small town where she staying to be taxed?
This would seem almost insignificant, but for the identity of the child.
God was at work, as part of a long-standing plan, to bring salvation both to Jew and Gentile.
The audience too, was unlikely. Not kings, people of noble birth, or world leaders, but shepherds minding their flocks by night?
This kind of news could not be contained. It would spread far and wide, still spreading today, that a Savior is born.
Who He is, what He has done, is bring forgiveness of sin, reconciliation with God. What good and joyous and eternally significant news!
