Philippians 2:8 “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
Jesus, God in human flesh, came into the world to be our Savior.
He left the glory of heaven to be rejected, mistreated, and executed on our behalf. He did all of this willingly.
His entire story is one of humility and obedience. And He is our model – the example for how we should live and think and interact in the world.
The bar is very high, there is no doubt. But God gives us everything we need to live like Him.
It is never easy. He endured much, asking God to let this cup pass from Him. In the end, concluding “not my will, but thine, be done.”
We will miss the mark, falling gravely short, but His grace will be there and His sacrifice will be enough.
This is why He came and took on the form of a servant, because we could not do it on our own. That’s why we say we are “lost” without Him. Because we are.
We are undeniably, unequivocally, irredeemably lost without Jesus. We must look to Him alone.
