Luke 24:5-6 “And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,”
The resurrection of Jesus Christ was confirmed by these angels. They encouraged the disciples to remember his words on how He would “be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”
They remembered – and now the reality of it would begin to set in.
This Jesus was exactly who He said He was. There was no reason now to have any doubt.
We know some did doubt. A few verses later, when they returned to inform the apostles, the scripture bluntly says “they believed them not.”
Men often lack faith, even when God reveals Himself in spectacular fashion, we are slow to trust.
Many infallible proofs of His resurrection would be forthcoming. People would see Him, recognize Him, hear Him, and know who He was.
Praise God for the benefit of this recorded history that gives us a lively hope!
