John 4:41-42 “And many more believed because of his own word; And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.”
We can tell others our story of salvation, insisting Jesus is the Savior, urging them to believe the truth. This is good, helpful, right, and obedient, but it’s often just a starting point.
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
The Samaritan woman in this chapter turned her neighbor’s attention to Jesus. She was a witness – and this is an important part of the story – an essential part. She got things moving.
They heard what she said about His knowledge, saw the change in her life, but most importantly heard what He had to say.
God is likely to use a variety of means to draw people to Himself. But it will always come back to “his own word.” Men will be required to answer. Do they believe what He says or not?
