Philippians 4:12 “I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.”
Contentment, no matter the circumstances, is a sign of Christian maturity. This attribute will not come naturally.
We often expect particular outcomes, those that make us happy and comfortable, having a difficult time accepting anything else.
The world and our flesh will encourage this response and provide a series of ready-made justifications. But they will not be legitimate.
The Bible explains how we should respond in both the times of plenty and times of hardship. We begin with knowing who God is and continue by having faith in Him.
He is our focus and the One that will provide the necessary equipment for facing all that we confront.
There are no shortcuts for dealing with life in righteousness. We must simply look to Him and let circumstances come as they may.
If God intends for us to avoid problems of any sort, He will intervene.
