Luke 19:7-8 “And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.”
When this “chief among the publicans” met Jesus, everything changed for him.
Those murmuring were right, he was a sinner. Some of his riches were obtained in a dishonest way.
But at this point in his life, he was ready to make all of that right.
Salvation had come to his house and he had been transformed. That meant rearranging his life to fit God’s will and making amends for the wrong he had done.
In ministering to Zacchaeus, Jesus was carrying out His mission “to seek and to save that which was lost.”
We have the privilege of bringing this good news to sinners today. Telling our own stories of transformation and praying for many more.
