Psalm 116:1-2 “I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.”
The thought that we may love the Lord because of His attentiveness to our cries is worthy of examination.
The idea that the God of all creation, who is endowed with all knowledge, all power, and all authority chooses to lower His ear to hear the voice of a sinful man is amazing.
We know in life that the people who love us take time to listen to our words. This is also true of God; He listens because He loves us.
The Lord gives His attention to us because of His care for our needs. It is this truth that causes us to turn our affections toward Him.
We are not like God, for He loved us even when we were unlovely, because we hated Him; yet we come to love Him only when we realize He loves us.
This thought alone should increase His wonder in our eyes and cause us to desire the honor of His service more.
