Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”
Why is it so difficult to set aside the weights and sins that hinder us or steer us toward the wrong path?
We can identify with this verse in the knowledge that habits and sins always weigh us down and take us off course in the Christian race.
Still, we are often content to limp along with the burden or hazard our fellowship with God and our testimony on the dangerous broad road.
Perhaps we are not as intent on winning the race as we ought to be?
This race is a constant, daily commitment to living our lives for God’s glory.
Have we truly internalized the effects of these weighty habits and sins?
It is long past time to examine our race strategy and progress.
We must pray that this examination will help in making us the runners we ought to be.
