Isaiah 42:6-7 “I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.”
Download Light of the Gentiles
This passage speaks of the Messiah, Jesus, and the fact that His light of salvation would reach even unto the Gentiles.
We see this theme almost immediately after His birth, when Simeon alludes to this prophecy, speaking of Jesus and saying “mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles.”
His light has, since then, made its way to millions of us non-Jewish people, opening our blind eyes and releasing us from the prison house of sin.
The nations that once sat in darkness now have the light of life. And it is for us – who have seen that light – to reflect it (to reflect Him) in these dark places.
