Philemon 1:6 “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”
Paul has heard of the love and faith Philemon has for Jesus and for all saints. He mentions him always in his prayers.
The prayer Paul has for Philemon here is worth a closer look.
He essentially prays that the communication of his faith would make Philemon understand all of the blessings we have in Christ.
The word for “communication” of thy faith could also be translated “to commune” or “to fellowship.”
Meaning, it is either a sharing “of” the faith or a sharing “in” the faith that can teach us to recognize and value our blessings.
Whatever the case, proclaiming the word or joining in fellowship around the word are effectual for our growth and understanding.
Both are part of every obedient believer’s walk as a disciple.
Are we mindful of the blessings that we have in Christ?
Perhaps sharing, and sharing in, the faith with others will will help us to review and to remember.
We are redeemed by Him, made righteous by Him, and provided with everlasting life. And these blessings are just the start.
