John 3:19-20 “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”
When Jesus – The Light of the World – came into the world. His light revealed men’s sins.
Those who loved darkness, the place where their sins were hidden, ran from the light. They hated the light.
This is the way of man. We dwell in bodies of sinful flesh and come to love this sinful world.
In the light, our deeds are reproved. And while this is exactly what is needed, we resist, because reproof is unpleasant/painful.
Coming to Jesus is against all of our natural insticts, but running to the Light is our only hope for salvation.
Come to the Light. Don’t run from reproof only to arrive at condemnation.
Have faith in the One who rescues, delivers from sin, and from darkness.
