Acts 4:19 “But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.”
The world will always attempt to silence the gospel.
These men were demanding that Peter and John sin.
Our culture sometimes requires the same of us.
No matter what they “judge,” we must commit to obedience. We can start by reaffirming a belief in the Bible, so that when we are challenged it is the truth of scripture on which we stand – not our own wisdom.
We need not mount a defense for God’s word – it will stand up to any test. But we do need to actively and accurately proclaim what is says.
God also asks that we are faithful, unashamed, and fearless in our devotion to Him.
Let’s love the Lord, recommit oursleves to Him, and be ready for opposition.
While the truth will have no difficulty standing firm in that day, we often will.
It is our job to ask God for help and follow examples like these.
It’s not going to be easy, but let’s decide now to go ahead anyway!
