James 1:23-24 “For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.”
How many times are we rebuked or instructed by God’s word, only to continue living our lives as we always have?
No matter how often we are reminded of our deficiency from scripture, our lifestyles remain unchanged.
This passage provides a label for the obedient person; they are a doer. Not just a hearer – a doer.
Action must be taken. And we have a Biblical mandate to rely upon the power of Christ in our constant attempts to be a doer.
The disobedient man is not a doer. He does not take action in the power of Christ.
For a doer, all the things we already know and understand from the Bible are actively in practice. And we locate those things that are not and endeavor to change.
It is only at this point that we will be ready to move on in our walk with God.
