Acts 6:10 “And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.”
Can we imagine being able to speak with power like this? Not because we are smart or eloquent or clever, but because God has equipped us by His Spirit to do so.
Stephen was speaking in just such a manner here.
The evil men around him had no way to contain the wildfire God was setting among the people with his words and they were willing to try anything.
The word of God, preached by a man of God, filled with the Spirit of God is unstoppable.
A powerful testimony for the Lord will not only be successful in directing people to faith in our Savior, it will also attract heavy opposition from our enemy.
Powerful words may have a broad-ranging impact. They could cause a breakthrough in a hard heart or stir anger in a heart determined to remain hard.
Stephen’s words led to his death. I wonder how many have been inspired by them since, to speak the truth in boldness, despite the danger?
And I wonder what his words may prompt in us? Are there words we must have the courage to say?
