Psalm 118:6 “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?”
The beginning statement of this verse is controversial to the world. How dare we say that God is on our side?
The very idea seems to them arrogant, closed-minded, simplistic, and wrong.
The sad truth is that they may often be right.
We can never claim that God is on our side, unless our beliefs and actions are in harmony with the teachings of His word. God cannot be on our side, unless and until we are on His.
The guarantee of God’s help can only be ascribed to those people who are living by His plan.
Through faith in Christ we have assurance of eternal salvation, that is never in doubt. But we must also be sure that we have dealt honestly with God in the other matters of life before we shout with confidence that the Lord is on our side in them.
If we are disingenuous, we may have much to fear from man.
We must align ourselves with Christ and His word and then be assured of His unwavering alignment with us.
