Psalm 119:18 “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.”
When we open the scripture, how often do we find wondrous things?
Perhaps we don’t, because we have not internalized this prayer.
There are innumerable things to wonder about in God’s word and with proper study habits, honesty, and the help of the Holy Spirit they are all available for our benefit.
God uses His word to reveal His character to His people. When this information about Him is imparted to us, our faith and reliance upon Him is increased.
This trust produces obedience, and obedience gives way to magnificent blessing in our lives; then our testimony of His faithfulness brings Him glory.
Remember that these wonderful results begin with receiving something from God’s word. Perhaps if we came to our study with this prayer, we would see this progression played out successfully on a regular basis in our lives.
That would be wondrous! But our eyes need to be open, and they need to be passing over His words daily.
