Psalm 35:1-2 “Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.”
God is against the wicked.
His created order confounds them as they reap what they sow. Their evil deeds do not allow them to prosper and their opposition to Him assures their own demise.
Anyone who sets themselves up against God or His people can only lose in the end, because God is a buckler for the righteous.
We would be mistaken to believe that God aligns Himself us, He instead comes to our aid when we are faithfully aligned with Him.
We cannot, for example, become an activist for a selfish cause, then expect Him to defend us from our opponents.
He fights on behalf of those that are His children, obedient to, and in service to Him.
It is a great comfort to understand He goes before those doing right, as we maintain a clear conscience and a trusting heart.
Let us remain on His side, assured that He is true and faithful.
