Joshua 4:7 “Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.”

Acts of God deserve to be remembered.
Remembrance is important for the unbelieving and for future generations, but it is also important for us.
Our memory of God’s direct intervention often fails when we’re at the edge of a brand new obstacle.
It seems we need physical monuments that will catch our eye and then stir our hearts.
The more often we are reminded, the more our confidence in Him grows. And this confidence in God’s character and work produces an enthusiasm to tell.
These twelve stones in the midst of Jordan were nothing special in and of themselves. Perhaps we have a notebook or a family album that is also nothing special.
It is the stories they bring to mind of God’s faithfulness that can produce special moments in our family that can impact eternity.
