John 4:13-14 “Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
The Samaritan woman Jesus encounters in this chapter is drawing from a well.
The water she draws can refresh and quench thirst, but only for a while. And man’s thirst goes far beyond the physical. We long for refreshment of soul that is lasting.
Jesus provides in abundance.
Beyond simply rescuing us from sin and death, He provides meaning and purpose.
Life in Him is the life we were meant to live. It satisfies the way nothing else can.
It is everlasting life, enjoying perfect fellowship with the Savior.
The alternative is eternal fire with not so much as a drop of water to cool the tongue.
