Philippians 1:27 “Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;”
Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, should live like believers. And we should work together in the local church to grow and minister more effectively.
That is a simple rephrasing of the idea communicated here.
Our manner of life (or conversation) should be consistent with our position in Christ. Paul desired this for the Philippians.
He longed to hear that they were unified and resolute in their gospel work.
He wasn’t expecting perfection or even perfect harmony, but instead a commitment to self-reflection and corporate accountability.
A community of people that asked themselves “am I doing right?” And asked others “can I help you get back on track or continue doing right?”
Believers that are concerned about lives that “become the gospel” behave consistently in this way.
