Psalm 72:18 “Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.”
In times of disappointment with the way God is working in our lives, we may get the idea His methods are inferior to or own.
We feel we have a good grasp on how things should be done and sometimes see God’s ways as inconvenient or cumbersome.
We are reminded how wrong these thoughts can be when we read here that God only does “wondrous things.”
The problem is we can’t observe them as wondrous until they are at completion and this sometimes takes longer than we want.
If we could grasp at the very beginning that God’s work will turn out wondrous, we would have less difficulty embracing each individual step.
Think about the blessings we have been so graciously afforded over the years, making careful note of their progress.
Isn’t the working of our Lord a wonderful thing to behold?
It is the patient and steadfast servant that can look back on difficulties and detours with a sense of wonder. The impatient and unfaithful never see things through and remember only the harshness of the world.
What a great shame indeed.
