This portion of the book features a list of short statements – commands – that work together, but can also be taken and applied individually.

In this section, we’re reminded that believers have reason to rejoice. We serve a God that provides eternal blessing and grace for each day. How can we stop rejoicing?

Next, we address our communication with Him through constant prayer. Jesus’ blood provided free access to God for all. Not only is connection with Him through prayer possible, but it is also necessary. We need Him.

Then comes the difficulty of thanksgiving in everything. We know God’s will for us is to face every encouragement and calamity of life with a thankful heart.

This means keeping our eyes on Him daily, resisting the temptation to fear or become preoccupied with our circumstances.
